Seminar overview
This course is suitable for trainees, paralegals and newly qualified lawyers. It will contain basic information about updating legal skills, and how to approach a new and unfamiliar piece of law. The setting out of basic timelines with any piece of work from receiving the request for advice to its completion including evidence gathering and basic drafting.
Duration: Half a day (3 CPD points) including lunch
Speaker profiles:
Belinda Moore is a Partner and Solicitor at Weightmans Leicester office. Belinda covers many areas of public law including liquor licensing. She has acted successfully for police forces on many occasions in their objection to liquor licences.
Claire Booth is an Associate Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) in Bevan Brittan’s Commercial & Infrastructure team. She is a qualified solicitor and also holds a qualification in library and information studies. She has many years’ experience in legal information and knowledge management work.
Her work involves providing the team with a comprehensive and focused information and research service. She produces several email alerts, including the highly regarded fortnightly Authority Update that is sent to over 1,900 people in local authorities and associated public bodies. She organises legal training for the team, and also helps with external seminars. She keeps a watching brief for developments that impact on the team’s work and also carries out ad hoc research.”
