Presenter profiles
Robert Bruce at Freeths has over 15 years of experience advising on planning, highways, compulsory purchase, infrastructure, the community infrastructure levy and local government law. He advises major developers, land owners, institutional clients and public authorities, principally in the retail, residential, offices, commercial and infrastructure sectors. He is familiar with advising local authorities, having previously worked in‑house as a Senior Planning Solicitor at local authorities.
Polly Wisner is an Associate at Freeths LLP and specialises in planning and highways law. Polly trained with Freeths LLP, qualifying in 2010 and advises a range of residential and commercial developers, landowners, Local Authorities and registered provider clients in respect of a range of planning and highway matters.
Julie Russell is a Senior Associate at Freeths LLP with over 10 years experience in dealing with planning and highways law. Julie trained at specialist planning law firm Marrons (now Shakespeare Martineau LLP) and qualified in 2006. She joined Freeths LLP in August this year. Julie advises a range of residential and commercial developers, landowners, Local Authorities and registered provider clients in respect of a range of planning and highway matters.
Lee Gordon heads Weightmans’ Planning team and has considerable experience of all aspects of planning and related law. In addition to local authority clients, Lee represents private sector developers and statutory consultees and consequently has an excellent insight into the issues faced by all parties for development projects. He regularly advises on complex planning agreements and applications, ancillary highways consents and rights of way, CPO and appropriation, EIA law issues, defending permissions from judicial review challenges and planning appeals. Lee has significant knowledge and experience of residential development schemes. Lee’s experience also includes advising on various nationally significant infrastructure projects and CPO issues.
David Mathias is a solicitor specialising in the law of planning, highways and compulsory purchase. He joined Weightmans LLP in 2015 having trained and qualified at DLA Piper in Liverpool. He has significant experience of advising both the public and private sector on all aspects of the planning process. David has particular experience of advising local authorities and public sector bodies on the assembly of sites for the provision of infrastructure and redevelopment using compulsory purchase powers.
