Course overview

This course will be an interactive and entertaining session about how to work with politicians on strategic and other matters. It covers practical advice on legal issues that lawyers can find themselves facing; such as demands for information; splits within groups, proportionality, outside bodies and code of conduct matters; as well as advice and discussion on how best to read the situation, structure reports and other documents and keep your members on the straight and narrow!

Presenter profiles:

Olwen Dutton, Anthony Collins is a very experienced and highly regarded lawyer with over thirty years’ experience in working with local authorities and the wider public sectors in a variety of senior roles. She specialises in governance and the wider commercialisation agenda.

Alex Lawrence, Anthony Collins advises local government and the wider public sector on local government law, governance, decision making and commercial matters including the application of the public procurement and state aid rules. Alex trained at Anthony Collins Solicitors and qualified as a solicitor in 2011 before spending several years as an in-house solicitor at Leicestershire County Council.
