Course overview
This course will cover in an interactive manner (through case study review and discussion) Code of practice for crown prosecutors, decision-taking and the procedures to be observed when prosecuting as a Local Authority Lawyer. We will also cover reviewing evidence, drafting summonses, preparation for a guilty plea, trials and objection handling.
Suitable audience:

Local Authority Lawyers and Legal Assistants/Officers

Overview and topics to be covered include:

Code of practice for crown prosecutors, checking authorisations, reviewing evidence, drafting summonses, preparation for a guilty plea, trials and objection handling.

Duration: Half a day (3 training hours) including lunch

Presenter profiles:
Paul Barber has significant experience over 20 years in the area of criminal litigation in both public and private sector. He has worked for over 10 years prosecuting matters for Sheffield City Council including prosecutions for school attendance, housing and licensing matters.
