Course overview

The training will include an update on recent changes to CPO law both in terms of process and compensation. It will also review significant recent case law. It will also include practical tips on promoting and securing confirmation of orders.

Suitable audience:

Planning, property lawyers, planning officers, estates officers, highways and transportation officers.

• Recent changes in the law of CPO procedure and compensation
• Case Law update
• The latest developments on the appropriation of land and the ability to interfere with third party rights
• Top tips for successful CPOs

Presenter profiles:

Lee Gordon, Weightmans leads the firm’s Planning team having joined in May 2014 from DLA Piper where he worked for over 10 years as a specialist planning solicitor. Lee has considerable experience of all aspects of planning and related law including CPO, advising across a range of sectors on some of the most high value and complex projects in the

country. Lee is currently leading teams at Weightmans advising on the promotion of 5 CPO’s for major highways, regeneration and infrastructure projects.

Bob Pritchard, Weightmans is a Partner in the Planning team. He previously worked at Eversheds Sutherland where he was Head of Devolution Matters. He has also worked at a senior level in local government including monitoring officer and head of legal roles in addition to specialising in planning and infrastructure.

He has considerable experience of all aspects of planning law and related law (including CPO) and has played a leading role in some of the most significant regeneration schemes and major development projects in the Leeds City Region and in London.
